Laurence knew what he wanted to do in life having wandered into a law lecture “almost by accident” at Exeter College in the 80’s. He went on to graduate in Law and was admitted as a solicitor in 1996. He has been a duty solicitor since 1997 and has spent his professional career as a criminal defence specialist. Having run his own firm for a number of years, Laurence is used to seeing cases through from the initial police investigation to their conclusion at Court and has covered all aspects of criminal law.
With a relaxed, but professional manner, Laurence is as happy advising clients at the police station, as he is representing them in Court. However, he particularly has a reputation as a skilful and accomplished trial advocate.
Laurence regards the most important aspect of the job as always remembering that he is representing people often at their most vulnerable and frightened and in an environment that can appear very intimidating.
Away from work, Laurence is a former director of Exeter City Football Club and as a lifelong fan, he remains a devoted and ever optimistic supporter of the Club.
